Ice conditions: 9-12″stay away from the channel and the sandbar between lakes. ATV traffic is increasing as the weeks pass.
Yellow Bass: Yellow Bass bite has been fantastic with lots of large yellows being caught. Most fisherman are focusing their time on the baptist camp in 8-10ft of water. The key to finding the yellows is to get away from those baby perch. Stay very mobile drilling plenty of holes. If you are sitting in a hole and marking tons of fish with follows but no bites odds are it is those baby perch. A few other hot spots for the yellows have been farmers beach or out in the middle of the little lake. Use a small spoon or jig tipped with spikes or wax worms.
Crappie: Crappies are being caught in the rushes fishing just below your hole. They are also being pulled out of the little lake in those deep dredge cuts anywhere from 16-20ft of water fishing suspended with minnows or plastics.
Walleye: The walleye bite has been slow but consistent. Most guys who are catching the walleyes are finding them mixed in with the yellows on the little lake or around the Baptist camp and farmers beach. There has also been a few nice eyes caught down at the grade. The DNR started the drain of the marsh creating water flow throughout the lake so be safe when traveling over there and take a spud bar. Use a small gold spoon or jig tipped with a minnow or wax worm.
Panfish: There are still lots of bluegills and perch being caught up in the shallows by the pump house. Fish the open pockets using a small jig with a wax worm or spikes.
We are fully stocked up on spikes (red, white & rainbow) along with wax worms, minnows and chubs. Stop in and we will point you in the right direction!
Dome Bait will also be opening tomorrow 12/20/18 and will be open Thursday – Monday every week until further notice.
